Fallujah Cover color structure

Fallujah is a region in Iraq, with a rich and vibrant history. Often known as the "city of mosques," It is situated less than fifty miles from Baghdad, on the Euphrates River. During the Gulf War of 1991, civilian deaths in Fallujah were some of the highest in the entire war. In 2004, During the U.S.-led occupation of Iraq, hundreds of Fallujah's people were slaughtered, while the use of "white phosphorus" and other forms of ecological terror have lead to an extreme spike in cancer cases.

Fallujah, the album, was constructed between 2008 and 2010. The songs originated out of live sets that Gitar performed throughout 2008. The sounds represent the attempt to understand atrocity and terror, from a distance. The sounds remember the crowded open air markets crumbling under the weight of bomb blasts, the fear that mother's had for their children, the fear and misunderstandings of the soldier, the attempt to ignore, justify, fight back and cry. This album is empathetic, but claims to only attempt to understand, and to attempt to engage others in this understanding . . .this rebuilding. It is a match lit in a dark room, in hopes that we all might see, at least for a moment.

We are offering Fallujah as a free digital download (mp3 256kbps). If you are feeling generous, please donate. Thank you.
